If you can, absolutely. Zinc will still corrode over (a long) time, eventually leaving bare steel to rust, so additional protection delays the onset of this. If you paint it now, it can be easier to touch up or repaint at a later date than it is to renew the zinc. I also think paint helps protect the zinc from stone chips, albeit minimally.
If not, it's not going to be the end of the world. You'll still get a much longer lifespan out of a galvanised part than the original one. |

Before you paint it you need to clean it well, you generally also need a special primer as well for galvanised steel DEFENDER 90 TDCI XS,
I hope everyone is well and your land rovers make you happy |

Click image to enlarge Don't bother painting. My galvanised door strips are from 1984. No rust. Make sure your take care off your chassis where the crossmember is covering the chassis. My 2001 chassis is in a good shape except where the crossmember is sitting. Magic, thanks for taking the time to reply.
I'll treat the chassis below the crossmember for sure. I was going to treat as much of the chassis as i can thats exposed when i have the floor up too. Appreciate the advice. |
