LR originals are the best replacement, and keep the water out - but expensive.

Yes I can see your problem then and reluctance to spend on original. Mine are 4 years old and still fine.
Hopefully others will have used the ones you have seen and will comment. |

Slight thread hijack. What do you recommend using to attach the seals?

A hammer and a block of wood works well
I've only just replaced the genuine seals on my 2002 90 (still serviceable but tatty) and the ones on my 25 year old 110 are tatty but haven't gone hard yet either (will be replaced soon) You may have been unlucky with a bad batch. I've never heard anyone say anything good about aftermarket door seals - especially britpart ones 2002 90 Td5 Station Wagon 1990 Vogue SE Triumph Tiger Explorer 1200 Td5 90 Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic50767.html Tdi 110 Thread https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic69562.html RRC Thread http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic54492.html Instagram http://www.instagram.com/george_grafton |

Agree - for original seals I used a rubber hammer. They have a metal insert that grips the door frame. Nothing else needed.

Having had a bad experience in the past with aftermarket seals, I would say genuine are the best, I binned the first lot I bought as they were useless and didn't fit properly. The genuine ones were superb and you could really see and feel the difference in quality and they fit straight on, but pricey yes...

I have replaced my door seals with the genuine ones not long ago after all on this forum recommended they are the only ones that will do the job properly
If your still not decided on which ones, look at the video's that Britannica Restorations ltd do, a good way to find out the good from the bad 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |
