Sun visors
Can someone tell me how the sun visors are attached to the headlining? Is it just a nut on the back side of it or is it captive?

From memory they don't fix through the headlining to the body do they? 2016 D4 HSE

Two machine screws for each visor, those screw into a captive bracket. You will notice on your front headlining, front windscreen edge; there will be four holes line these up with the four captives and the jobs a good en! For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Captive nuts attached to the roof you can clearly see the location on the pictures below.

Thanks I've been wondering this also!

Can you remove the head liner panels without removing all the plastic side trimming panels?

Not really, as you risk the chance of damaging it. Removing the side trim is not that involved anyway.
I estimate that to remove the headlining and trim carefully takes about an hour with the right tools. Removal of the interior lights is much easier if you have the right sized socket for the nuts that hold the metal base plate behind the headlining as one of those nuts being so close to the plastic surround is a pain unless you have one of those little screwdriver sockets.
Sometimes the fir tree fasteners will not come out no matter what you try and then you need a fine fret saw blade used without its holder to cut the head off, you can then once the headlining is removed tap out the stem of the fir tree with a punch or similar. For those who like Welsh Mountains and narrow boats have a look at my videos and photos at..

Hardest job removing the headlining is getting the rear view mirror bracket off !

At least one of the three rivnuts will spin

They're 6,3x19mm (14 x 3/4“) (AB614061L), but it's a self-tapping, not machine screw.

No you didn't misunderstand, those are exactly the ones and as you can see they look like bolts, which they are, but described as self tapping Rolling Eyes

Ok... Question It's a while since I had a closer look but I'll check again.
May take a while though, so if someone else could shed a light on this?

Interesting that the drawing clearly shows Rivnuts (which would mean machine screws) but the description states Spiraloks which would mean self tappers. I suspect a change took place.

IIRC my 2007 TDCi uses M6 machine screws but I can't remember the length.
