My 1988 90 has M6 screws, my 2014 90 has self tappers (#14 gauge)  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top
2015 D90 XS SW

Just to add to the mix.

My M reg 300 Tdi had one of each, machine screw next to the mirror mount and self tapper next to the door both had a cross head. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place,
so it doesn't take much to Censored us off.

M6 x 25mm long if I remember correctly. Had to fit longer ones when I fitted the Mud roof console.
