Have you tried an earlier or a later type oil filter? Might be that at some point you engine may have been replaced. Best way, check your service book, should have the engine number written in it, if its different from the V5 or engine block hey presto its had a new engine. Just a thought Ben

Td5s all take the same filters.
It is a awkward angle to get the filter fitted, might just not be lining up properly. Have you measured the threaded holes in the new and old filters? 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Hi all the filter that is on the car is noticeably bigger with regards to the size of the threaded hole in the top. I've had to put the old filter back on and it went on easily enough. There was no way the new one(s) were going to go on It's definitely a Td5, I replaced the rotor filter no problem and the picctures in the workshop manual look like my engine.

Any progress with this?
FYI the Td5 full-flow filter has a 3/4" UNF 16 tpi thread. 1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top 2015 D90 XS SW |

Haven't had a chance to take the old filter off yet but its on the list for Saturday. I'll make sure I measure up the threaded hole in the filter whilst its off and make a note of the number/make this time |

Me thinks someone has changed something on this one.I have had experience of quite a number of TD5's both in disco and defender never come across this problem. But some times the flow filter can be a to get on. Its never over in my land rover.
