Even if the numbers have been superceded, any dealer will be able to cross reference them
I'll have a look later on microCAT and see if they've been updated, as i've got this months version here. |

I bought my spring from my local main dealer while i was collecting a discovery 3 for a customer at work, the parts guy seemed to think that the bushes and clip were,nt available seperately so i ordered the spring thinking it may come with the other bits, but when they delivered it to work it was a spring on its own.
I ordered the clip and bushes from Rimmer Bros tuesday evening they turned up in the post this morning All fitted now as per earlier post, just been out for a test flight and its much easier to operate with better feel and control, even Mrs Sparts found it nicer to drive (not sure thats a good thing). 2005 Td5 90 XS Steve |

£25 sounds dear i paid about £10 for the spring at the dealers and about £7-8 for the bushes and clip from rimmers.
I just made a note of the part numbers in the photo elsewhere in the thread and put them in the search bar on Rimmers website and up they popped. 2005 Td5 90 XS Steve |

Some people fit a RRC or Disco 1 handbrake lever between the seats to make a bit more legroom.
A friend of mine takes a local chaps Defenders up to Foleys to have left hand drive handbrakes fitted to the passenger side footwell for the same reason. 2005 Td5 90 XS Steve |

Well finally got around to doing this after lots of reading and checking this thread. Wondered how it could be easy for some and not for others, well for me it was one pain in the !!!. To cut a long story short ended up taking the pedal box off and fitted the spring, (one bush needed drilling out) checked the photo's that the spring was the right way etc. only problem was as I pushed on the pedal it went to the floor and stayed there, had to grab pedal and pull it back, it was as though the spring changed direction at the halfway mark of the pedal travel. Anyone had this happen? even the bolt to stop to adjust the travel is not long enough to stop before it clicks over. Incidentally, when starting to push on the pedal it seems even stronger than the original spring. End result, put everything back to how it was. Dab hand now at removing Air conditioning, trim, pedal box and bleeding the system, so not entirely a wasted effort. Regards
Dennis. |
