you can get that type of end to fit a full size grease gun too.

Maybe but unless you have 3 arms it would be impossible?

Actually i suppose my use of the term "full size" was a bit confusing.
The smaller cartridge type grease guns (Wanner etc) can be pumped with one hand, use the other hand to hold the nozzle on to the nipple. You of course need a flexi hose on the gun. But you're right with large cartridge guns it's not practical. |

Optimists say the glass is half full.. Pessimists say the glass is half empty.. Engineers say the glass is twice the size it needs to be! |

^^ Neither have I.
But then again I always unbolt at least one flange when I grease the propshafts so that I can articulate the joints fully. |

I should perhaps have said "articulate the joints fully in order to ensure proper distribution of lubricant, the way it should be done, not simply to get the greasegun on the nipple".
I have never actually had a problem getting a standard gun on the nipple, although I know that many here do have problems. Perhaps the make and/or quality of the gun makes a difference. You may find that the press-type greaser won't get grease into a bunged-up nipple very easily. Another easy option is to replace temporarily the standard nipple with a long nipple that allows the grease gun connector to clear the joint completely. Long nipples |

My rearmost UJ has a nipple in the centre of the yoke with a right angle that is too close to the UJ so how would an extended nipple fit?

This small 'one handed' Gun...that can be maneuvered around UJ works well
There is an optimum position for the prop shafts, to allow each UJ to be best 'approached'... when I found this I marked each shaft, so that I can now roll the vehicle into position. Click image to enlarge SKIP https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic83242.html |

I just used a grinder to narrow the gun nozzle slightly, now it fits between the yokes fine.
