I use an air operated grease gun. Pretty much always pops the old grease and gives a good "sizzle"

Any particular type of grease? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again but expecting different results.

Mine is a lithium based grease with moly additive.
Rule that hasn't gone wrong for me is to simply go for whatever is the second most expensive one at the local auto shop. Often that is the one and the same as the most expensive and the least. ![]() |

I use Castrol LM Grease (now called Castrol Multi-Purpose Grease), which is an excellent Lithium-based general purpose grease and especially formulated for wheel-bearings. Unless you need a molybdenum-based grease (for example. CV joints and splined shafts) LM is hard to better.

Every time I chuck the fender on the ramps l'm inclined too pump a little grease into the uj's! Anyhow I just use a standard gun and ordinary flex hose. Yes not the easiest, however far from mission impossible.

Anyhow was going too say Mr Ford saved a quid! Only four holes tapped for grease nipples on the props, them for uj's and none for the splines.

Mine came with no UJ nipples on the short shaft that i noticed after 6,000 miles and LR replaced the whole shaft. The long shaft has no hole for the spline nipple and the back yoke has the nipple in the centre.

This seems to have turned into a public health campaign - check your nipples every year.
Now feel the need to get under mine and count them. ![]() Clearly cannot trust the dealers to get it right |

Found access to the front u/j nipple was impossible with a 45 or 90 degree nipple. Fitted a 65 degree nipple and no more problems. Available on eBay.

I've had one of these for years. Picked up at a car boot sale. It works a treat with a needle point type fitting on the end of a 1ft flexible grease gun hose. No need for 3 hands and easy to deal with propshaft UJs and the like
