C-post repair - diagonal section
Time has come to look at replacing the sloping section of the C-post (the section from the upright, diagonally down to the sill)
I have seen repair sections from YRM metal. Anyone else done this job whilst the c-post is still attached to the vehicle?

A quick look at doing the job and i need to remove;

The triangle section of external body work by removing the three rivets
Chequer plate sill cover
Two bolts that go through the seat base
Two spot welds towards the downward c-post section
Maybe some hidden spot welds behind the sill cover

I am sure there are more bits. Comments from more knowledgeable people required please 1999 Defender TD5 110

I'm going to be tackling the same job myself later this year excossack.

I found the following video on YouTube which might help you:

He uses YRM parts, but things didn't line up too well in the end, which concerns me! (not that I suspect anything wrong with the YRM part, just the alignment of it all). 2005 Td5 90 XS

Thanks HP. Are you planning on doing yours with the vehicle intact or you going the route of taking the 110 apart?
I would like to do it with out removing al the body work. I appreciate I will have to remove some parts such as door/seats 1999 Defender TD5 110

I replaced both diagonal c sections on my 110csw using the yrm parts - which were spot on. Having removed the ali body parts I braced the door by making up some braces that could be bolted in place, also took some measurements before I cut the old metal out. From memory it was easy enough to weld back in place, just a bit awkward to get the welder in on the top section just below the door catch. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. As my 110 currently consists of a chassis sitting on the garage floor waiting to be painted - I'll be taking the 110 apart Smile

There wasn't a lot of metal left on either side - believe it or not this was the better side of the two!
