Td5 turbo upgrade?

I'm looking to upgrade my 110 this year, it has an Alive remap and I'd like to get a turbo upgrade.
I don't need 250bhp 😁 but i would like a quicker throttle response and was wondering which turbo offering spools up the quickest ?
The old girl is carrying a bit of weight and tows a large twin axle caravan, so a bit more "go" wouldn't go amiss 😎

Understandable. If I had the funds I would have gone down the VGT turbo route because the drive would have been smooth and progressive. Alas I did not and so could not. Instead I replaced the turbo CHRA with an uprated one with bearings and billet vanes etc. The effect was noticeable right from the off with a quicker spool up and power all the way up the rev range. With the addition of an Alive remap it is a good setup and works well. As with your Defender, Miffy is roll caged and often full of gear, she has over 200k miles on her and still pulls beautifully.

It is a good solution if you are willing to DIY...

Have you shortened the length of the actuator rod?Standard length is with 12 to 14 threads showing,you can safely shorten it to 9 threads showing,but,if you go too short it may go to limp mode,so just turn it back a couple of threads.
As I understand it,this increases the boost earlier.

Id suggest speaking to Empire about a hybrid. Probably wont need a VNT/VGT as his hybrids are pretty big anyway. They also spool super fast! Also much cheaper than the VNT/VGT options. Instagram @defender_ventures

Agree with the last post.

If you have an Alive remap then speak to them about an upgraded turbo because they offer a couple of options. Importantly, they can put it on their Dyno and adjust your map to compliment the turbo.

For best results these things are better off tuned together rather than having them treated as isolated upgrades
