^^ Well spotted. That’s one thing from the classic Defender they carried over on the new model. Maybe the only one.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

And there looks to be quite a bit of scope to fit smaller rims. I won’t go as far as to say 16”s will fit, but maybe there is hope for 17”s. 2007 110 TDCi Station Wagon XS

Ralf Speth says " Defender won't be an easy launch '' when talking about a recovery plan !
The C E O has come out publicly admitting this , Like DUH ! Maybe because it does not resemble a modern Defender , the icon that created a brand ! It is another suv , this is an epic fail ! Plough the internet people , nothing but negative everywhere . |

Has someone any ideas if the wheel arches are flexible/ removable? To me this one of the best (aka cost saving!) features on the Defender. m

I'd say the reaction online is mixed, but not overwhelmingly negative. I've seen a lot of comments about how it's a real Defender because "it has a roof gutter" which makes no sense whatsoever to me.
I put some of my thoughts here - At this point though I think I'm going to leave the conversation, there isn't anything more to say. This vehicle is nothing like what I hoped for, but nothing I or anyone else says will stop it going into production or make JLR reconsider their choice of direction. The future for JLR will be whatever it is, but I see no point commenting further. They didn't listen... 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Haven't watched the vid, but do have to say I'm getting a bit tired about all the negative complaints of people about it. None of us have seen it without all the camouflage and none of us have driven it already.
I don't think JLR are doing too well at the moment. Any of the complainers think they'd survive if they keep making the Defender as it was? If you only go to social events with like minded Series / Defender fanboys you'd say they made a stupid move, but real world is hardly anyone likes a noisy, leaking vehicle. I drive a Defender and a Caterham. None of my friends would ever buy these cars. |
