It can be really counterintuitive at first getting to grips with trusting the electronics. I have found when stuck or up against a obstacle don’t rev it or rock it press the pedal to tell the car you want to make progress and hold your foot for a few seconds to let it figure it out. If your up and down on the throttle it’s not nearly as effective. It’s different depending on what mode your in too sand mode for instance is best if you want to just floor it. All discovery experience I must add not new defender. 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE

The more I see of the New Defender the more I get my feeling confirmed - this car is superfluous. JLR builts more or less the same car in several shades, so there is nothing left of a 'Defender'. It is just a Defender version of the New Beetle approach, lookalike applications to pretend something it isn't. I don't see this as being an honest car, as the Landrover from Series to Defender were. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

I don’t think any selfrespecting old or new Defender owner would want to be seen dead advertising their car as a Chelsea Tractor, it might be the done thing for Jeep, Bentayga and G-Wagon owners - regardless of whether it is a company name or not. Also there are advertising rules on this forum and both Kahn and Chelsea Tractor have had warnings about abusing them before. Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

My car has configurable Terrain Response - I That car may not have it as here it is an option.

it certainly does not have the active differential option from this picture, only one centre locking diff on the 4x4
info. Assume with configurable TR you can adjust the settings to minimise wheelspin depending on the situation you are in

Dealer enabled functions
Evoque and RRS both have these so I assume that D5 and L405 have them too - L663 Defender’s iGuide mentions that New Defender has them as well. In the iGuide e-handbook they are highlighted with an icon of a group of people.

So far I have found two “dealer enabled” functions. Perhaps if others find more they could “Quote” this post and edit in the functions they find. It’s a pity that the manual doesn’t list the additional functions. I know that the dealer who supplied both my Evoques and the last RRS enabled them all as a matter of course at PDI but some dealers have been known to charge to enable these features. If purchasing a new one then make sure to tell the dealership to make sure that they are all enabled at PDI.

So far I have found:

1) Speed sensitive wiper speed adjustment

2) Drip mode.......... no not something to switch on oil drips on the drive or an automatic runny nose wipe function but a function to give a delayed wiper wipe after operating the screen wash/wipe program function Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come

Interesting to see the hard flickering of the daylight LEDs ... so they are obviously pulsed. Being educated as an electrical engineer a long time ago, another thing I don't like. Never forget: cars have owner, Landrover have field service personnel.

Finally, some proper off-roading with a direct comparison between old & new Defender, although the driver does not seem to know what he's doing...

Clearly the driver is new to off-roading, and it also doesn't seem like that 110 has the rear e-diff. He also clearly doesn't know how to get the TC to work properly.

But even without the rear e-diff, it shouldn't have gotten stuck so much.

I would have walked that hill in my D4 and RRS

I thought the screen at the beginning showed both rear and centre diffs locked?

I certainly thought I saw some funny behaviour.

On the first section it looked at point the rear axle was driving the vehicle forward whilst the front (at least the front left we could see) was locked and so slid.

Then on the second climb, I thought I could see the front axle rotating at a greater speed than the rear?

I think it would have made better progress if the bloke in front didn't keep stopping him.

Sorry ~ but I did laugh when all those plastic bits fell off Embarassed

Just looking at the iGuide with regard to the e diff:

Which seems to confirm that they do not operate in an on/off fashion but rather in an almost infinitely variable fashion ~ just what controls the level of wheelspin is the question?
