I remember when the Discovery got it'd traction control, Land Rover demonstrated it by putting three of the Discovery's wheels on rollers and it proceeded up the slope with drive to one wheel. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Land Rover brochures claim a 45 degree slope as what the vehicles would do, I suppose after that gravity kicks in. Traction control allowed the 45 degree slope to be bettered The swivel passenger side on the Defender took some abuse coming down. Was that the traction control chattering away?
That Range Rover was very impressive. What ever about going up I'd be cringing coming down! Wonder who was the first to point a vehicle at the slope and think it possible to get up? 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |

Tim, that's Jamie (Salsa) from rrsport.co.uk and a good mate from down under, we have been off roading with Jamie a few times. Sad to say his RRS (black betty) has been sold and he his selling his SVX 110 (or should i say his second SVX, he drowned the first one ) https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/newcastle/...1238529984 He currently runs a D4 but is waiting to assess my P400 110 whenever it rocks up to see if he will make the leap to the new Defender.. from a number of the Namibia reports, i remember some of the journalists mentioning they did not reduce the tyre pressure to much as it would trigger the TPMS alerts, so LR deliberately set the vehicles at the lowest possible level which would avoid annoying everyone. Looking at the out the window towards the end, the tyres seemed to be quite low, so assume TPMS was working correctly.. Is there an option to re calibrate/configure TPMS?? yet another pommie bar steward down under MY20 110 P400 SE Defender MY10 3.0 RR Sport |

On TPMS a useful demonstration of the over the air software upgrades of the future would be the ability to set your own tyre pressure to suit your tyre setup. They would have to have a warning disclaimer at startup each time I guess if your pressures are not factory spec to keep to the safety principle of it and keep the amber warning on the dash but would be an appropriate feature for the defender.
Mpg I would expect due to car idling and being in low range. Low coolant, my second to last d4 flashed it briefly many times when on bumpy roads or steep inclines. Dealer did something (can’t recall what) but was a 5 min fix, and no it wasn’t low on coolant 110 MY23.5 X Dynamic HSE RR MY23 HSE PHEV D5 MY19 HSE - Now Sold D4 MY16 HSE Luxury - Now Sold D4 MY12 HSE - Gone D3 MY06 S - Gone but not forgotten |

The question really is why these "learnings" are not carried forward or incorporated into new model launches? |

IIRC on L320 it was found that the sender float for coolant level was porous but that was also a long time ago. There was also an issue with the coolant tank leaking on a seam on some cars........ I don’t know how the system works but I wonder if the fix for RDR’s car was that the dealer increased the delay time before the warning would be flagged. Say from 3 secs out to 20 secs. Again, there appears to be a lot of wheel spinning before any form of traction control kicks in?

My car has configurable Terrain Response - I haven’t looked at what can be adjusted yet but TC might be one of the things that can be reconfigured to adjust the cut in. That car may not have it as here it is an option. In the Danish video there was mention of a manual adjust facility for one of the settings but I haven’t found that yet. Also I don’t think I have the ATPC on mine - offroad cruise control device that the Danish guy mentioned.
He didn’t say which if the Petrol engines is fitted but if that’s the P300 4 pot job then he didn’t seem to need to use a lot of power/ revs to get up that track, only a couple of places where he seemed to need a little more throttle than others. It certainly did seem to be struggling or stressed Pangea Green D250 90 HSE with Air Suspension, Off-road Pack, Towing Pack, Black Contrast roof , rear recovery eyes, Front bash plate, Classic flaps all round, extended wheel arch kit and a few bits from PowerfulUK Expel Clear Gloss PPF to come 2020 D240 1st Edition in Pangea Green with Acorn interior.
