How much should a pair of drive members cost?
I’m wondering if my garage has made a mistake - how much should a pair of rear drive members cost?

Car is a 2009 tdci 110.

£18.00 or £180.00?

Thanks!

I recently (a couple of months ago) bought a Bearmach kit that included bolts and gaskets for just under £20. Genuine ones will undoubtedly be a lot more but I couldn't say by how much. Darren

Britpart or similar are about £5 each, other aftermarket brands from £7 to about £20 each, and genuine LR are £175.74 inc VAT each.

Ashcroft HD flanges are around £90 per pair and are better than genuine.

Part no is RUC105200 if you want to Google.

So if you got a pair of genuine flanges for £180 you perhaps got a bargain! Shocked

The cheap aftermarket ones are not worth fitting- I refused to because I don’t want to do it over.

Does the bill not break it down into parts and Labour?

That seems a bit steep - could they have fitted the single piece shafts like these?

I am sure that they could (assuming that it was the rear axle, of course) but those are £350 each inc VAT from a dealer.

Thanks for all the responses.

It turns out they used genuine parts, hence the price difference vs. after market.

The two best options really putting cost aside are Genuine 1piece which are the most pricey or two piece Ashcroft
HD and Ashcroft HD flanges.
I don't see much point in cheap flanges, they'll just induce more wear more quickly on halfshafts splines which are considerably more expensive.

Both options as Blackwolf above suggested to me originally will give you high mileage capability.

Factory fitted two piece on mine lasted 60k which isn't bad though.
Much depends on your use and miles, but they are quite costly even more so on the front. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

£180 is a shocking price when Ashcroft claim to sell genuine for £30

I would not be at all surprised if they aren't the same part. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
