Hello,
I used to have Cooper studded tyres when I lived in Norway, these were excellent even in deeper snow. Last winter I changed them for Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT2, which also are proper studded tyres. While I’m living in the south of Finland now where there is not that long periods of snow I would have ideally wanted winter tyres without studs, but there does not seem to be any, except ATs. ATs have pretty good grip on lose new snow, but packed or ice you really need studs or proper siped soft compound winter tyres. To be honest I was really really close to choosing BFG AT KO2, but in the end I chose the safe route and went with Hakkas. I’m not sure if studs are allowed in the UK though? At least they are not in middle europe. |

Im not sure if we are allowed them either.. But I don't think we have the need for studded tyres.. we don't get all that much snow in the uk, not all that much where I am in the in the east of England Regards

So, I'm safely back in the UK following a month in the snowy Alps.
The Nokian Hakkapeliittas performed absolutely admirably. Very impressed - we didn't loose grip once on snow, and they were quiet and reasonably efficient on road. Now need to find something to run on the car in the summer |
