I did a tour of the alps on the old 750x16 General SAG. There was plenty of snow especially on the mountain passes leading to Morzine via Chamonix etc. Landy never had any problems. Good tyres obviously help but land rovers are very capable on anything half decent. 2006 TD5110 station wagon

The KOs on my 110 have the 3PMSF symbol, same as the GG AT2s I used to have on the 90, D1 & F1 - both have been excellent in the snow that we had last winter & the couple of bad winters we had 2010 ish. Click image to enlarge |

I'm trying to come to a conclusion based on all the helpful comments on this - thanks so much for all the input ladies and gents!
Can anyone help me by referencing a specific winter tyre that they have used to good effect? I can see lots of mentions of KO2's as decent A/T tyres with Snowflake symbols (if I read this correctly) - but I'm struggling to identify a particular design of full winter tyre. Thank you! |

I recently had KO2 All Terrains fitted. In the wet they hold well, but I have managed to lock up the wheels under heavy breaking with new(run in) tyres.
they hold better on corners, and ill update when I get some ice and snow. Regards Adam Loving The Duchess The Defender 110 TD5 XS My Defender story - http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic64005.html |

KO's are very capable in general snow or cold tarmac conditions, and I have run them through two full alpine winter seasons. But they're not as good as a full winter tyre on ice or fine, falling snow on top of cold tarmac, where they do slide. If you want a full winter tyre designed for alpine or northern cold weather environments, those who've used them swear by Nokkian Hakkapeliittas. Generally considered to be the best heavy duty SUV full winter tyre bar none. I have some of the new R3s on order. https://www.nokiantyres.com/winter-tyres/nokian-hakkapeliitta-r3/ Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Cheers Adam!
Thanks Grenadier. These Nokian Hakkapeliittas look like they might be the ones for me. |

Plenty of references in this thread and others to the Nokian Hakka' LT2. According to Nokian website, this is the recommended/only tyre for 4x4 in size 235/85-16 https://www.nokiantyres.com/winter-tyres/n...iitta-lt2/ I am running a set and they will be top of my list when it is time to replace |

So... I’m on 265/75/R16s currently (apart from my spare which is 235/85/R16).
My trusted tyre places are struggling to get the Hakkappelliita in this size. What are the implications of shifting to say a 245/75/R16? TIA, Jimbo |
