I had to read twice there, when he said bulkheads and chassis, then look twice at the photos of the chassis! Let us know how things turn out trickster, Are you going to be revamping other parts or is just a case of swopping what you have over? Hi Procta, looking to re-use as much as possible but some things just aren't worth trying to recover especially things like the fuel tank which are a bit of a pain to replace when it's all back together so best just do it properly now while it's all in bits Matt.

I've just had a good look at a load of chassis and two bulkheads that must be waiting for the boat to the mainland
they seem well made and the welding and galvanising look good, bulkheads look well made holes seems to be in the right place only thing I noticed were the brackets for the bonnet hinge inserts were knocked back closed but would straighten All right I took a few photos but not sure how to load on the post |

I can see where they have notched out the metal around the inner corners of the 2 air vents, originally these have a return lip, and you either have a glued in rubber seal, or the foam seal on the vent flap.
There doesn't seem to be a return lip or enough metal left in the corners to make a water tight seal, 50mph in driving rain could see flooded footwells, even original Land Rover bulkheads leak there. Best bet is to wait until the first lot have been fitted and used for a period of time, and any problems have been ironed out. |

Very interested to see how you get on with these, especially whether holes line up for fitting the various bits. If all good then certainly better than a refurbed bulkhead in my opinion & will be on the list for when I need to rebuild mine

My advise to everyone is stay clear!! I've just had my second TD5 bulkhead delivered as first one was miles off! ( 7 weeks to deliver instead of 3 promised ). 2nd one delivered less than an hour ago and it's even worse!!! Waiting on Paul ( owner ) calling me bk as I want a full refund plus the Labour costs to find out the 1st one was duff!!! I'm now 2 and a half months behind on build and £1800 down. Stay away from them is my 1st hand advice. Will post Paul's response.
Cheers Ross |

Hi Steve,
Have a look at the gallery. Everything about sums it up. Width is out, size of vent areas are all different on each side, height is forcing my roof up nearly 20mm. It's a joke! Last edited by Roscobus1 on 26th Sep 2018 3:35pm. Edited 1 time in total |

That does look pretty shocking! I had a similar issue with my own bulkhead pushing the roof up a bit at the front (i refurbed it myself) but as we had changed the bulkhead outriggers, bulkhead feet and vent flap section any one or all of those could have contributed. Mine was only out 5mm at the back of the roof though (truckcab)

I am confused. The following website "TerrainTechParts" for a company based in Axminster states that they have been fabricating parts for 28 years, yet the pictures are the same as on Shielder's website?
https://www.terraintechparts.com/products/...d-assembly Do we assume that TerrainTechParts is just a reseller for Shielder? If so that's pretty misleading on their website. Or did Shielder 'borrow' the pictures from TerrainTechParts? Hmm... They claim they are in stock too. Has anyone had any dealings with these guys? 2005 Td5 90 XS 1989 V8 110 CSW |
