Sorry I can not directly answer your question but I can tell you a way I would find the answer. First draw a grid 5 high 5 wide three times. Then get the switches on the desk and get a multimeter and check the continuity between each pin on the first switch, marking a cross is each box on the grid that has a connection. Then draw another 3 grids and do the same on the new switch. The pin config will then be obvious when compare the grids.

New switch is PRC2735 aka Lucas 162SA
Connect as follows: 1: White = Ignition switched out 2: Brown/red = glow plug 3: White/Black = fuel solenoid 4: White/red = starter 5: Brown = battery live in ![]() ![]() |

I know you said brown twice in your first post but I am assuming that's a typo and one should be white (old pin 4). If you actually have two browns then the one to your old terminal 4 is the ignition switched out and should go to new terminal 1.

Spot on Martin, many thanks I should have posted sooner, your help is very much appreciated. It’s surprising how the small things make a difference. I’d not realised how stiff the old barrel was and it’s nice having a bigger plastic key instead of the old small metal one 👍
