United States 2009 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Alpine White
New Member - 110SW with 2.4 Build

Hello - I am a new member here from USA. I had a NAS90 Soft Top years ago and regretted selling it ever since. Last September I picked up a 1998 D110SW that needed a full restoration. While I was in the process of disassembly I came across a 2.4TDCI rolling chassis with drivetrain installed. I decided to build off of this instead, at this point I have started with a blank canvas and am learning as I go.

I have a few questions that I hope you guys can review and let me know if you see any mistakes. Since I do not have this version of truck to work off of, I am using the web, service manuals, and workshop manuals to piece together what I do not know as well as some helpful vendors and friends.

I have attached pictures of the cooling hoses and where they are connected, etc. I believe it is all correct but please let me know if I am off somewhere.

The last pic is of the negative battery to earth cable. I believe I have located this properly but again if not please let me know.

Thanks in advance - Mark

Since you are there, I suggest you to check the clutch assembly as some past parts are made of cheese. Actually still. It is a cheap and poor design. Puma 110" SW

Galvanized Chassis - The paint is only in areas that can be seen once the truck is back together - I do not like the look of a silver chassis. I would have preferred to powder coat the chassis prior to assembly, but i wasn't going to tear the entire roller down just for that.

The heater pipe area is the most congested, have you got the bracket for it’s control valve that mounts to the engine? I would fit all of it too and check for clearances on the hoses, your hoses are aftermarket so I’m sure they don’t have the alignment marks like the original hoses. If you have them it might help you out the white “paint” marks.

Your oil cooler hose might be upside down or the one at the “Y” on the water pump? and iirc the two pipes over the bellhousing go higher?

NickMc - The bracket you mentioned - is it the one that mounts to the bulkhead and holds the white valve? If this is the one you mean then yes I do have it but the bulkhead has not been mounted on the frame yet as I am refurbishing it and adding A/C and switches etc.

No I do not have the alignment marks and I did my best to match up the old hose setup.

The two pipes at the bellhousing with shift up once the hoses are connected to the valve from what I can tell plus there is a clip on the valve to keep them up higher if I recall correctly.

Thanks - Mark
