Check your brake light fuse. It is one of the common causes for this "sticky throttle" behaviour.
Don't ask me why, but it is. Another possibility is the clutch switch, which can simply be shorted out in the loom plug (I used a bent paperclip). |

The connectors for the clutch switch should it be that are called J.P.T. (Junior Power Timer.) connectors.
To bypass simply crimp a wire loop in on a male connnector as a bypass with some pins. Totally reversible and easy to do. Mine is bypassed also, and never had an issue. It's still worth checking the brake light fuse though as suggested. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Thank you for your quick reply Thon I had forgot that at the same time i disconnected the battery , also changed the fuse for the brake lights. Thinking this is a coincidence and not a connection ( no pun intended )Very strange .

Could you post a photo of exactly how you shorted/looped the plug? I'm keen to try this but don't want to get it wrong. Thank you! 2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black

If you PM me it’ll remind me and I’ll find it, I have a pic but not on my phone.
It’s very simple, and works well and completely reversible. Ideally you should have a device to read and clear DTC codes if needed thought. It’s never caused an issue or put on the MIL for me and been better for it! It can log a DTC but it won’t do anything and I just clear it. Runs much better and nice in all gears especially low range, and importantly anti stall works perfectly and more sensibly too. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

It sounds good to me. I've got a DTC device so that side of it is fine. I look forward to the photo. 2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black

Just writing another post as I need three posts to PM you. Let's post the photo publicly when it's sorted as it may well help others out. Excited to try it out! 2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black

Other option is to reclaibrate the ECU properly, which when done virtually eliminates rev hang.
And I don't just mean a generic remap... Personally I would leave the low range idle jack in place - its there for a reason. Just need to make sure your clutch switch is working correctly. This Defender has a remap so it is indeed possible to get this 'feature' added. 2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Santorini Black

Not by me it's not... as I have no interest in correcting other companies work. Also, a warranty problem from my point of view.
Not sure anyone else has worked out how to do it yet. 2.2 is done - just finishing off 2.4 IRB The home of the first modified Keswick Green 90 - and the first 2.4 Puma through both the 200bhp and 550Nm barriers. www.IRBdevelopments.com www.facebook.com/irbdevelopments www.integrated316.com www.facebook.com/integrated316 |
