Lots can be done with a custom tailored remap electronically by the best tuners, but not a generic remap as suggested.

I can't comment on the mod on a 2.2 and as mentioned do bear in mind warranty.

On a TD5 it can be just disconnected, on a TD4 this mod is needed.

Personally I think leaving it in situ causes more wear and tear with that rev hang thing and it has an effect in high and low.
Each to their own, but I much prefer it without, and when driven properly and with sensible mechanical sympathy there is no issue.
The rough rev application caused by the ECU. can only in my opinion have a detrimental effect especially off road as it cannot take into account situation and terrain. It over rides driver input which in many instances would be beneficial.

As I mentioned, each to their own and if anyone didn't lie it you can swap straight back.
