TD5 central locking and interior lights.
I am looking for advice on this one.
Whilst driving my TD5 XS my interior lights came on and remained on until physically switched off.
When I parked the vehicle and operated the key fob for central locking /Alarm activation the vehicle horn tooted twice and there was no flashing of indicators as I normally have and the doors locked.
When operating the fob to open the car the doors opened and the indicators flashed as normal.
I have looked through the handbook but did not find any solutions in it. 2016 Defender Landmark 90

That suggests that the car thinks that one of the doors is open. Check the condition of the door switches and their wiring for chaffing that's allowing a path to earth. Darren

I'd check the wires on the door switches first, they tend to go brittle and snap/short. This would cause the interior light to remain on and the alarm to toot when locking the vehicle.

Are all doors properly closed? The hoot when locking means that one of the doors or bonnet is open, so it's likely that you have an issue with one of the contacts in the doors.
Maybe check that nothing has become loose. Don't know about the rear doors, (I have a hardtop, so 2 doors only) but you can easily remove the front door switches from the bulkhead , takes only 1 screw. A single cable should be attached to them. You can start by pushing them first and see if anything happens.

Greetings,

Joris

Thank you both for your input the rear door switch was missing its plunger.
I had a look at the other door switches which were also pretty corroded I have ordered a set of 3 to replace them. 2016 Defender Landmark 90

I had the exact same problem 18 months ago. New door switches all round and been fine since.
