TD5 Immobiliser
Apologies in advance if what follows is moronic. I have a 2004 TD5 [farmer spec'] and when I turn off the ignition and remove the key, there is an electronic chirping sound - is this an immobiliser? I am a bit puzzled as the key is just a standard without any chipped fob. If it is an immobiliser, does anyone know what type? Thanks in advance.

A bit of googling suggests there may be an immobiliser on the ECU that was never activiated; if so, any ideas why the chirp?

Thank you - much appreciated. I have seen I can have it activated if I get some fobs - I may look into it.

My 2003 farmer spec 90 does not chirp and my standard startprevention is disabled so I am not sure if yours is completely standard.

may sound silly but some head units with a removable facia chirp when they are turned off to remind you to remove the facia. nobody is perfect but being Scottish is a start

I shall give that a whirl as someone has replaced the head unit with one with a detachable facia - much appreciated to both.
