Which tuning company?
So I have fitted an EGR blanking kit, decat and intercooler and am ready to get it remapped.

Who do I go with Alive, BAS or Storm?

+1 Dynachip. Home or office for £250 or TD5inside but you generally have to wait till they are back in the UK.

IRB seem to get good feedback but its no good if you cant get hold of the bloke, have tried 3 times and have given up. Dont know what he'd be like if you had a problem after and not prepared to find out.

Sorry to say it but my experience with Alive was not great, l had my TD5 remapped by the Alive agent in Oldham (Dasall)
The remap was not a success (far too much smoke) and to cut a long story short l had to get the vehicle reset at Land Rover.
l never got any money back from Alive and ended up £500 out of pocket in total.
I ran it standard for a while but then got it done by Dynachip and he was great, really knows his stuff.
Unlike Alive he test drives the remap (with you driving) to make sure it's OK. He had to adjust mine twice.
it's been fine since he did it with a good increase in performance and no smoke.
Dynachip is cheaper (£240 rather than £360) and he comes out to you, no need to take it in.

don't know about the TD5 but I think I'd be right in saying he's (IRB) got a couple of unofficial records for the 2.4 tdci;

500+Nm torq
40mpg ( Mr. Green )....not necessarily from the say defender.

he can be hard to get hold of but when I was in the 'poo' he dropped everything and came out to rescue me (failed adapter shaft).

got me back on the road real quick time. I think the problem relates more to new customers and not existing. I'm guessing he's taken the approach of best to avoid new customers than let anyone down? Like I say that's just my perception and I guess if he's got good feed back (on wherever) then perhaps there's some truth in it?

Would suggest meeting up with the various options in person and make an informed decision. For the most part we'll all try to promote what we've based on why we made that decision at the time.

do you have the EGR removed and have the followers been checked (I think that's what they are anyway)? The reason I mention the followers is because I was at IRB the one day when Ian was doing a remap and he wasn't happy with how the engine was running and checked / adjusted them while he was at it - ended with another happy customer. Thumbs Up

good luck and enjoy the results whoever you go with.
