Sorted. No earth was the main cause of not working. It would be nice to have the switch sat in the middle of the rocker and then press in at the top for wash and then in at the bottom for wipe. But instead its in at the bottom for wipe. Oh well. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Hello,
I'm wiring up a mud RWW switch, I have connected the wires but I'm stumped with the green wire linked to position 3 & 5. Click image to enlarge I don't have a green wire?!? Am I meant to take a feed from elsewhere? I cannot get the switch to work, so evidently I'm missing something. Cheers Andy |

Not got the info to hand but if you get really stuck I will remove the switch and have a look. I think from memory I fiddled for a while and studied the wiring diagram to work it out. 1999 Defender TD5 110

Haha,
Yes I just did the same, removed it and started again, tracing my wires. The white wire with green trace is an ignition fed live, this goes to pin position 3 or 5, then is jumped to pin 3 or 5 depending on which one you chose. The rest of the wiring is as per the mud list. Worth pointing out that you need to run your own earth from the switch. Tomorrow I connect up the light feed to the carling....... Cheers Andy |

Hi, sorry to dig out this old topic, but I'm stuck in a similar spot...
Here are my questions: 1. where can I run the earth to? 2. I do have a green wire from the old switch, how do you "jump" from pin 3 to 5? can i solder a wire between them? 3. I don't have a red/white wire... I noticed one under the radio, can I tap this wire? or where else should I look to find a red/white? I haven't tried to plug anything in yet, as it's the first time I'm messing with the electronics and I don't want to break anything... Oh forgot to mention, it's in a 300tdi, don't know if it's different from a TD5... Thanks in advance! |
