Symptoms/Causes of Turbo Lag in a Defender TDCI 2.4/2.2
Hi Guys,

Is there a definitive list of symptoms and causes for Turbo Lag in a TDCI 2.4 engine?
How do I avoid Turbo Lag? (Is it even possible?)

Thanks

Replacing centre muffler with straight through pipe is supposed to improve turbo lag
See Below
These are 304 stainless steel exhaust silencer replacement pipes. They are designed to directly replace the front silencer in your exhaust system. Once replaced the pipe will give your vehicle more power or reduced fuel consumption with only a small increase in cabin noise. CNC mandrel formed for a perfect fit with laser cut flanges, the pipes have a sateen finish, deep luster appearance. Quick and easy to install.

Did you miss the pictures? It looks like either nobody suffers from turbo lag or not many people have solutions.. Very Happy

Well the 'symptoms' of turbo lag are simply you put your foot down and nothing happens, then woosh loads of power.

My 2.4 seems fine, no different to any other modern turbo diesel.

In general the causes of turbo lag on a modern Common rail diesels are dirty or damaged mass airflow meters (or the wiring), or a faulty acutator on the turbo if it has variable geometry.
