I'm at the stage where any more problems and I'm likely to throw the towel in / torch the 110 which would be a real shame after such a roller coaster of highs and lows.
So last night the brakes Kind of seized on! Thankfully Ian (IRB) was in the area and got me going again..... not had the chance to discuss this in great depth but it may be he's on the verge of resolving my 3 1/2 years of pain. once he fixed it every thing seemed fine and dandy from more responsive brakes the engine runny sweet PLUS an obvious rev hang / throttle blip when changing gears. Happened again this evening and after watching Ian it would appear there's some kind of problem round by the foot well - be it brake pedal switches or throttle pedal wiring I'm not sure but seems to be something round there that's causing / fixing the problem. Anyone like to suggest exactly what it might be or has anyone else experienced similar? |

Why not let Ian diagnose it for you rather than speculate over a forum who cannot see the car to inspect..?

Was looking for some suggestions on what I could have a look at before finding time to get back over to see Ian.

Don't know why you guys stick with it really, mine would have morphed into a land cruiser or pickup by now if it wasn't for SWMBO who insists on keeping the stupid thing. Having said that, it hasn't gone wrong this year, and all other options would likely let me down in a different way by getting me stuck in the middle of the downs. Love em, hate em, I don't know but there have been days when they don't deserve to be kept.
Hats off to Caterham and Keith who seem to have unnatural patience. 2.2 90 XS 88" Series One Old Norton Minerva |

Just seen a post from an Ozzie guy called Newhue who says that "only the brave buy Defenders", I guess that sums it up quite well. 2.2 90 XS

And breath out..... Keith thanks for that I suddenly feel much better (at your expense I'm afraid) .... Didn't realise you were having so much trouble. I hope you’re soon all sorted. I thought it was just poor fuel economy.....guess you can add that to your list Good luck mate. BP man. Seems like wiring to the foot well area however just noticed a click / clunk to brake pedal?? Guessing this all links into abs and ecu? |

Fuel economy I'd be cheaper running a V8 or 2.25
I joined this forum to enable me to blow off some steam and air my views on my 14th LR . The Forum and it's LR committed members have been a god send and huge help in the problems I'v had with this 2.2 , ( at the expense of my wife's sex life I must say ) she reckons I'm having an affair wi someone on ere When I get it back nxt wk it will have every part of the running gear and transmission replaced New . A new car I believe I should open a new topic ........ " Gota 2.2 problem ? Ask Keith " I'v had em all . |

Keith, with so many problems you'd better ask yourself if it really is the Defender. It might be you!
I'm sorry, this one was too easy for me. Simply couldn't resist. Both of you good luck problem solving off course. |

like your pics - where do you find them. .... don't suppose you have some info on how the abs works and if there's some kind of fail safe that makes it operate the brakes? on the 2 occasions its happened the brake pedal has kinda clicked as it were resetting the brakes and then back to normal? |
