Air intake pipe replacement and sealing on 2.4 TDCI
Hi all

I have a full external cage on my 110 so Im not sure if the nugget stuff air intake kit will fit so Im going to put it out there to you guys about what solutions you have come up with, I would prefer to use this hole rather than any others i.e. wing top or new holes.

Hi Ken, I have no experience of the Nugget equipment.

At a quick word with Nakatanenga and they suggest you consider either this or this

Are you talking about fitting it with a snorkel or just sealing it through to the wing vent?

I've got the full cage and used a southdown snorkel which is sealed all the way through to the airbox and fits with a cage.
It goes through the wing but as you've already modified the wings to mount the cage it's not a big deal (20mins with a drill / hacksaw and file Smile ).
Also looks more in fitting with the cage than some other options.

Reasonable as well at £169 inc VAT....

The Nugget duct won't fit there.

The Erhöhte Luftansaugung gets my vote:-

one of these and design the pipe work to your spec

My defender has 6 point ezternal roll cage too
I have also installed a snorkel but I used the metal mantac snorkel (old style and just bolted a flange on the snorkel kit and run a 3 inch silicone pipe all the way to the airbox, then followed by a 3inch to 4 inch silicone adapter. As the airbox end is 4 inch

Finanly I used some water pipe clamps to secured the snorkel pipe

I have the Nugget intake fitted and a Safety Devices 8 point internal/external cage fitted.

The wing intake end fits OK, but has to be re-drilled if you wish to re-fit the original intake grille (as I did at the time) but I don't particularly like the adapter fitting that goes into the airbox, as it is almost an interference fit against one of the engine-mounted bolts. It hasn't rubbed through yet but I suspect it's only a matter of time. I've also seen that they are now supplied with a pipe that looks pretty shonky in comparison to the old type I have.

It looks like your cage intrudes more into that space so I couldn't be definite about whether it will fit or not. I'm going to see if I have some pictures and will post them if I can find them.

This shows the view from behind the wing, and it only just clears the SD bracket that bolts to the bulkhead. It is however quite a shallow box so might sneak in behind the tube that you show.
