We know all of this, Brendan, it's been covered already and has nothing to do with the peak beam intensity regulation that I thought we were discussing Darren

Ok, I give up. I thought we were having a sensible discussion but there's no fun in it if you're just going to repeat the same stuff and ignore the points raised. Darren

LRA, a few days ago you had not heard of peak beam intensity reference number. You have even question if LED Light bars can be legal.
Now under VLR, optional main beam headlights are allowable with no restriction on number of lamps however they must have either a British Standards mark or an Approval Mark Now apart from the UK being a signatory to the UN Vehicle Harmonisation Regulations the UK Parliament has passed an Act which accepts the UN ECE approval mark. The fact that there is no mention of peak beam intensity reference number in the VLR is irrelevant as the UK accepts the UN ECE approval mark which has specific mention of peak beam intensity and gives a specific limit on the light output from main beam headlamps. There is a number stipulated for obligatory vehicle main beam headlights under VLR which is 2 and the more up to date UN ECE number is 2 or 4 dependent on vehicle class. Now under UN ECE regulations concerning Main Beam Headlamps
There is no mention of Obligatory or Optional main beam headlamps with regard to Peak Beam Intensity. The Peak beam reference is to Main Beam Headlamps Now the maximum is achieved by adding the reference mark of the several Definition of several
So minimum number of main beam headlamps must be three which exceeds the obligatory number of headlamps on a Defender. Now I am unaware of any main beam headlamp which has a reference number of 50! I hope that explains things! Brendan |

Jeez. I have approximately as many lights as I deem fit bolted to the front of my land rover, have them three way switched (manual, with main beams, off) and only use them where safe and appropriate.
I think that's adequate! |
