Mirrors can stand the wind anymore
Have have an anoying problem with my mirrors the co-driver mirror goes backwards at an speed off about 80 km/hr and my drivers side mirror keeps up till about 120 km/hr.

Can you adjust them to make them tighter?

Thanks Roel Roel

There is a bolt on the bottom of the mirror to adjust the tension on the ball joint.

Depends if the mirror is moving with respect to the arm, or the arm and mirror are moving with respect to the door.

The former can usually be dealt with as noted above.

The latter usually requires new mirror arms.

Just had the same problem on my TD5 110, when passing road trains on fairly narrow roads with 110kph speed limit, so 220 kph passing speed, not only did the drivers mirror fall for over, but the bulkhead vent also slammed shut with a loud bang. Mirror fixed at a service station, which kindly lent me a 5/16 Allen key to do up the bolt. Also notice that my R/H rear mud flap has snapped off just below the bracket! 1955 Series 1 107" Pick up.

On some you can do the bolt up to much and put a hairline crack in the plastic body around the bracket inside the mirror which you will only notice when it is under tension. I had this which caused the mirror body to flop down at any speed over 40mph or in high winds. When I replaced it I put a thin layer of silicon around the ball and let it dry. That way I didn't need to do it up so tight.

Problem is solved. The metal bracket that holds the mirror on the ball was more or less gone. Shocked When I put the mirror in a strange angle I had the mirror in my hand.
I had some spare mirrors so used the brackets from them and problem solved. Mr. Green

Thanks all. Roel
