I bought everything from Sound Deadening Shop direct, speaking to Colin. The price I was given for the bulk packs as a Def2 forum member were £67.92.
I also bought Isolator 6 ( large single sheet) @ 10.19 2 x Pro Barrier in 5m x 1m roll @169.99. (This was for é x 110SW and 1 x DCPU) Very helpful, so I'd contact them direct for a best, Def2 price. PM following with contact email. Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

At this rate you'll get it fitted before me. It's only been a year since it was delivered. Monsieur Le Grenadier

Think I'm going to order some silent coat tonight.
A pack of 5mm to do my bulkhead behind my front seats as my sub is mounted to it and it rattles like mad. All the left overs from this I'll use on the footwells and maybe rear wheel arches depending on whats left. A pack of the 3mm for boot floor, seat box and everywhere I can stick it really. Lastly some 6mm isolator closed cell foam to go on top. Obviously buying it is one thing and fitting it is another but I'll try to remember to report back when I've done it. Not bothering with the roof yet as I want a new headlining and I'll do that all together as one job |

I'm looking at this to do the back of my SW and found some stuff on eBay that seems excellent value. No idea if it's any good but for the price looks worth a punt to me.

That stuff is primarily thermal insulation. It's probably an ok substitute for 6mm closed cell foam but doesn't do the same job as the dense products like Silentcoat. Darren

Ah ok, how does silent coat differ from a decent laminate underlay for instance? Like this for example apart from the sticky backing? Silent coat etc just seem a lot of Dosh. https://www.diy.com/departments/duralay-3m...316_BQ.prd |

Silentcoat and the like are a dense bitumen based material designed to reduce the resonance of panels. They work because of their mass. Foam based products are sound absorbers and reduce reflected noise. As bankz says, the two different types should be used together for the best results.
Silentcoat, etc generally doesn't need to cover every square inch of a panel to work, although it's often easier to do so. Foam, on the other hand, works on surface area and so should be edge to edge where practical. The laminate flooring stuff again would substitute for closed cell foam but is probably less effective than the proper stuff for this application. Thank you, so if i went for 2mm silent coat in the back of 90 with carpet over top then rubber mat would that be a decent start, or should i get 3mm etc?

Yeah, that's what I did and it's made a huge difference. That coupled with 6mm foam on the vertical surfaces above the wheel boxes, hard top sides and roof above the lining. I haven't done the front yet but roof, sides and rear tub have totally transformed it. Darren

Something like this should give you enough to do the roof and sides:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3m-Roll-Car-Sou...0005.m1851 So far, I've used one box of 40 sheets of Silent Coat to cover the rear tub (floor, wheel boxes and sides up to cappings), the inside of one door and isolated panels on the roof before the foam went over the top.
