 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 USW Stornoway Grey
Exhuast gasket after turbo
Is there an exhaust gasket that goes between the turbo manifold and the CAT downpipe? i think mine is whistling from there but local parts people say there isint a gasket in there, was wondering if it had blown. Cheers

There definitely will be a gasket between the turbo and down pipe. Thing to listen out for is the flexi joint just below the union can also wear and spring a leak. It should be noticeable by black soot around the area it is escaping from.

I've just had my exhaust off my 2010 and not found a gasket. Didn't leak though. Might be worth cleaning up the mating surfaces and torquing it back up.

well i dont think there is one there from digging i have done but i seem to remember an aftermarket gasket being thicker which i think was to go here but not sure. Cheers

I am getting a bit of squealing from engine area which i assumed was the mating of the down pipe to the 4 bolt exhaust/turbo manifold. thoughts please? Its under load. Cheers

Hi james what truck is it on, sounds like the td5 exhaust manifold warped, similar to when you whistle a blade of grass between your fingers?!?..
Check for soot around manifold/studs..

its a brand new downpipe. the old one didnt have a gasket in there, there isint one there currently, its whistling and i wondered if there is meant to be a gasket in there and what MPN it is if there is one

When I put my 2011 110 2.4 puma on the hoist I thought I'd lost the gasket on fitting the decat pipe on to the turbo. So rang the dealer parts department in panic, and was told there was not one. Thumbs Up
