O,, for a bit of torque !!! The Fiesta has next to sod all !! clutch and flywheel weigh next to nothing ! the lump only really works from about 7000-9000 revs , but gets their very quick via a Hewland flat change 6 speed

to get even 7500 out of an old V8 you have got to be expecting to be spending a load of cash and not expect it to last to long my rev limmiter is set at 6thou

9K was the limit that Fia put on the JWRC (Junior World Rally Car) rules,, regularly saw a few more that that Steel crank, rods etc, Can not find a pic of the pistons, but their was not a lot to them, 1" tall at most !! Motor was good for 800 KM, then rebuild !!

The trayback has a nice V8 in it, seasoned 3.9 block with top hats and cross bolted 4.0ltr crank, rods and pistons, stage 1 heads and a torque biased cam. running on megasquirt Can run under water,, so they say  California F1, 75th 110 "Kermit", 50th Ann V8, 90 V8 Hybrid, 55 Series 1

Been historic racing for 15 years, and the two Goodwood Revival races are amongst my favourites (as well as a two hour stint, in the rain, and the dark, in a Friend's Austin Healey 100M at spa 6 hours last year!), purely from the atmosphere/crowds. So nice to not be racing to the usual empty stands at Silverstone in October! Quite agree about the 'detached' nature of modern cars, though - on-track or off! Hence why I love my Defender! Had a Freelander 2 as a courtesy car and couldn't believe how 'dead' the steering felt.

Keeping my fingers crossed for another entry at Goodwood some time soon - If so, must come and say hello!

By the way, my race there last year was a wee bit disappointing, in that I got stuck behind a (slower) Abarth with a very crafty driver!! Took me bloody ages to get past, and then cut 3 seconds off my lap time! Still, I got on TV, and finished (despite how it looks on the footage) about half way down the grid, which was nice...

A friends father races an HWM their, one of Ayrton Senna's old mechanics now drives it as is father is quite elderly now - apparently it has a Mike Hawthorn D type engine in it I didn't believe him when he first told me.....
