So I've replaced the clutch and have come to fit the MT82 output mod. My original was dry as a bone and had substantial wear.
So far I've followed the WSM to the letter and have got to the part where I fit the Ashcroft aluminium housing with its double O-rings at either end. On the first attempt to fit it I tried with all the gubbins in place and with Loctite as I expected it to be a simple job and just whiz on. Only it didn't. After cleaning off the Locitite and trying to fit it a few times I figured out that If I removed the output shaft it span right on. As soon as I put the shaft in again, it feels like its cross threading. I've attached a video to demonstrate the issue. However, the ally housing will screw on to the output "cup" with the 2 large O-rings in place. It just makes things stiff, so they are not to blame which was an early thought of mine. Another thing to note was that upon disassembly of the first attempt there was a thin sliver of ally where the 2 large grooves are either side of the cup. I decided to take a needle file to the leading edges to give them a chamfer, as my initial assessment was that the thread on the "cup" was acting like a tap. Interesting, as the housing spins on freely on its own but not with the shaft in place, and as it is such a snug on the shaft, fit do you think it points to a misalignment in the splines & shaft as that is what it strikes me as. Steve.

Did you fit the IRB paddle clutch as well? How are you finding the two mods combined? Very interested in your thoughts as planning on doing this myself. Cheers Dave |

I have done both but the 110 wont be on the road for a while. Got a lot of big jobs to do.

The ally housing bottomed out before tightening up on the threads. Ashcrofts sent out a new ally housing and output shaft and it went together perfectly. Hopefully it will do the trick!

Sorry for the delay in reply.
Not been on the forum in a while. Have been busy with other things, and only really got the 110 back on the road a couple of weeks ago. The ceramic clutch was poo. Rattled like mad due to poor build. Swapped it out for an organic jobby which seems to be ok. Not done enough miles yet to comment on the output mod. No leaks as yet though. Cheers |

Well this week I downloaded the transfer to repair it and when you remove it you see the output shaft that comes from the gearbox. The case is that the striation is quite worn and wanted to change it, but there is no way to loosen the screw. So I am giving Sticks of blind since I do not know if it looses right or left.
Has anyone ever taken it apart? |
