NO CALLER ID
NO I do not want a NVQ training grant NO I do not want to take part in your poxy survey NO I do not want you to fix a problem with my pc Am getting plagued with No Caller ID phone calls NO CALLER ID = I do not answer phone now! Question is it possible to block no caller id calls? Brendan |

Registering with the TPS helps but doesn't get rid of them all.

Get yourself a Truecall. Not expensive and a fantastic device, it really works.
Registering with TPS doesn't help at all in my experience since most of the nuisance calls originate overseas and cannot be regulated. All my phones (including mobiles) are registered, and I can honestly say that it made no difference at all. |

Has anyone else noticed a phenomenon I have noticed a lot recently:-
If you are driving on a dual carriageway or motorway and cruising at say a steady 70mph (which you can do in your Defender since it is a Dual Purpose Vehicle   ) and you gradually come up behind a vehicle cruising a few mph slower, perhaps 68mph, the moment you pull out to overtake the slower driver will - unintentionally I am sure - speed up to match your speed, and the only way to get past is to speed up considerably, then pull in and drop back down to 70. By this time Johnny Gormlees in the car you're passing has also slowed back down to his original 68.
I am sure that there is some psychological effect of being gradually overhauled which makes Johnny Gormless speed up to match your speed. It doesn't happen if the speed differential is larger than about 5mph though. I have been driving a lot on the A38 and M5 between Plymouth and Tiverton lately and noticed this effect without fail! It's very tiresome! |

Yep! Happens to me all the time no matter what I am driving! Its annoying! However not as annoying as the drivers who think they are formula one racers and drive to the very end of a motorway exit in the middle or fast lane and then at the last minute drive through the narrow gaps between you and the cars in front to exit the motorway. |

^^Yep, had that on the M6 through Walsall a few weeks ago coming back from Eastnor. Young girl, probably 19 in a Clio, as overtaking she took off though (seemed as though she had the intention of racing
 ), and crashed straight into the lorry in front of her which was braking An engine to TDi for!

Happened to me last night, following Euro Box doing 50 mph, road restricted to this due large number of farm and business entrances, road changes to dual carriage way and restricted to 70 mph, Euro Box driver, Female, Blonde, mid thirty's, only driving at 50mph I pull past doing 70mph , before I can pull in she drops two gears and starts races up on the inside and just sits there doing 70mph preventing me from pulling in. Looking in the mirror I see an other car flashing headlight, wants me out of the way I think, I touch the brake pedal and he drops back allowing me to pull in behind Euro Box who's brake lights come on and we are down to 50 mph again. The that had been behind then comes alongside and I see what the other driver has not.............Its a plain Police Car with two two officers, they were recording the actions of the Euro Box driver, did she get a shock when the pulled her over. Two minute statement from me and I done and on my way, getting home got call from local police to say that had been reported for a number of offences and her vehicle was on its way to the crusher as she did not have insurance. RESULT! Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to  us off.

I had a case a year or so ago when I was passing the entry sliproad at J11 on the M4. Car wants to come on so I pull over to the middle lane and pass. He speeds up - so we're both going along the motorway side by side at 70! I look in my mirror and I can't slow to let him overtake on the inside as there is a car fairly close behind me who has also joined (and immediately got into the middle lane), and that would have been dangerous as the motorway was busy. This seemed to go on for ages, but was probably only a mile or so. Eventually I had to speed up to 85 to pass shytehead who wanted to ride alongside, then pull into lane 1 to get him to pass me. I looked at him as he passed but he made no reaction. I wonder if plod would have accepted my excuse at doing 85? It made me realise that there ARE actually times you need to break the speed limit.
Wife and I followed a young girl in a Fiesta last week down the A4 toward Newbury. She appeared to be typical (useless) and braked as she passed the speed camera in Woolhampton, even though she was doing 30. We got to a red signal crossroads at Thatcham and I said to my wife that she was leaving it late to brake. She didn't. She sailed through the crossroads as though they weren't there. See, you can be innocently going about your day, and some stupid idiot can take you out for life.  Now left. |

They really get peed off when you overtake with a caravan on the back.

On the other hand I get really peeded off when a huge HGV overtakes me while I am towing a caravan and the HGV takes ages to pass you, even if you back off your speed a bit to let him do so. Then once passed and he is in front of you he drops his speed, usually means that half a mile down the road you have to overtake him.

What annoys me is when your slogging along with a load on and you see someone coming down the slip road to join the motorway. Now, if I can I usually pull into the outside lane so they can join the motorway safely with lots of room and then I ether pass them as they are speeding up or I tuck in behind them and carry on. Why some people decide to pull out from the slipway and then decide to match me as I'm indicating to go back to the slow lane I will never know. Whats worse is when you can't pull over to allow them a WHOLE LANE OF MOTORWAY to pull out into safely. When you find can't pull out, you ease up gently allowing them lots of space to pull out, maybe even give them a flash to say out you come and instead they roll to the end of the slip road and stop. Much to the annoyance of the large lorry behind them that is jack knifing because they, like me, were expecting them to speed up and join in front of me and instead decided to slow down and stop to let me pass, feeling very confused and now looking like a selfish road hog for not allowing them space to pull out. Even though I had!
Mine wont do that unfortunately  Need to get me some of those 60mph stickers me thinks |
