"It would be useful if someone had had an accident with the axle fitted with the brackets, if they could post it here." Or something along those lines. What Blackwolf has mentioned above with the zebra crossings anology is on the same lines to what JLR service stated to me when I visited their office with my concern and the EU alert in my hand. It seems JLR are stuck in the 60's culture where IIRC Ford wrapped some rubber round the fuel tank of the Pinto and called it the rear bumper, then when they realised the mistake, did a calculation on the cost of a redesign / recall against the cost of paying out for cremating a few peasants, sorry important customers and their loved ones....

I wonder if any of the small number of TDCi Defenders in the world running Tibus portal axle conversions have MIG-welded axles? I imagine that that would tend to break them!

Have people forgotten how to use wing mirrors? Seriously though. Ford are issuing a recall because the rear view camera "could" fail. Reading that Ford recall its either a relatively 'free' software update or a quick job of flicking a little camera out of its housing and refitting a new one, then passing the cost back to the supplier of the camera.
The potential cost of changing the front axle and LR having to absorb that themselves plus then the argument with every owner over a courtesy 4x4, 'oh you need new brakes, new bearings, new bushes etc' would be the stuff of nightmares - no wonder they're trying to slope shoulders.....Bar stewards! |

The Death Wobble issue has been a thorn in Jeep's side for years, with previous incidents leading to a class-action lawsuit in 2019... FCA US, the US arm of Stellantis, which owns the Jeep brand, is also covering attorney fees for the plaintiffs in the class-action lawsuit. Looking to buy the two weld on axle brackets, Lr068818 and lr068822 for piece of mind its a 2010 defender 90 i have which isn't in the land rover recall but as seen on the forum that's not to say it couldn't happen.
Where have other bought theirs from and would any forum sponsors happen to supply them? |

They are bolt on not weld on. I brought mine from a large distribution website when they had a 20% off weekend. Searching for my first Defender...and started just as Covid hit, so talk about timing.
