Oddly I discovered their Banditry when looking at oddly Rustproofing post's.
If you like me Checked out MilersS3 post on the forum about the Bilthamber Dynax rustproofing he did on his 110 all the pictures have gone http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic27877.html After some digging I discovered they have decided to Remove the privilege of Third party hosting of all free and basic photobucket accounts. You now have to pay $399 dollars for the privilege by having their Plus 500 account. This was done on the 28th as an update to their TOU shows and I quote

This story has been picked up by the BBC.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-40492668 This is a classic "how to commit corporate suicide", much like United Airlines. Bye bye PhotoBucket. Cannot really see how you are going to spin your way out of this PR nightmare. If we are honest anyway, the amount of ads they had was way over the top. Even if you look at the Terms of Service, two pop up adverts appear. Off to buy Imgur stock now.... My 10th Land Rover, but my first Defender. |

That's great for you and as it happens I'm now moving some stuff onto here direct, but those solutions clearly won't suit everybody. Regardless though, my comment was more of a response to yours about social media, which seemed a bit strange as Photobucket isn't but this forum where we're discussing it is Darren

I'm uploading direct from my iPhone now and to be honest it's a lot easier! Like Procta mentioned in and earlier posting there are too many adds and popups now anyway. I had to do a reset on my iPad a week ago after all the popups crashed Safari. I wouldn't go back even if they did reverse their idea and made it free again... nuts to them! 2010 Defender 90 HT

When and if I pay, never I say. I think Photobucket are relying on the adage one born every minute.

All my old posts had pictures linked to photobucket, but the latest were direct from my lap tops pictures folder which works well. So, I'll now close my photobucket account (if its possible to do so)

It is. You have to do a bit of digging in the settings but there is an option to close the account completely. Darren

I logged onto mine, and tried to download all my photos so that I can log back on to the metro owners club and re host them, some of my photos were how to guides for the owners club.
Anyway I had some right trouble trying to down load them, I gave up in the end, but I will have another shot so that I can just close the account, mind since I have had a tweak of the setting about email, I haven't had as much spam now. I thought it was facebook, but it looks like it was photobucket. Defender TD5 90 ---/--- Peugeot 306 HDI hatch back Success is 90% Inspiration and 4 minutes Preparation # you can make it! |

I also tried to download all of my images on Photobucket, but the site kept stalling and it made no progress. In the end I just gave up and deleted all of the images BEFORE I closed my account.
