I should add to the above post that these lights fit both a standard Defender bumper and the heavier duty Mantec winch bumper.
I was concerned, but took the plunge and it paid off. The other thing is this job marks the end of my trusty Black and Decker drill, it was handed down to me by my grandad and has done many many years of stellar use... It went out in true style; Click image to enlarge |

Beware small things in brown unbranded boxes... Small present for Miffy arrived in the post today;
Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Took a punt on these thinking I could always return them, but they are really well made, solid and well finished. The plan is to have these left and right of the centre dash. The volt gauge I am not sure about yet, may use it to monitor the Aux battery. MadMan will be monitoring the starter battery. Will ponder... The other amazing delivery today was from Brendan and Barbara (4x4Overlander.com). Unfortunately my MadMan sensor pack came with the wrong T-piece to connect up the oil sensors. A quick email and the replacement arrives ready for the weekend Perfect. The surprise was a complimentary keychain which has already been fitted to the spare keys "Keep Calm. Rover On" Many thanks B&B made my day |

Well, been a while and lots of stuff has happened to Miffy in the last month, small stuff mostly but entirely necessary.
This evenings job is one that only came about when I went to replace the dash bulbs (half of which died in a week) and noticed that one of the dash binnacles lower fixing tabs had broken. Also, the side of the dash binnacle nearest the door has cracked. Very odd, not sure how that has happened. Click image to enlarge A quick look on the Bay and new pattern parts and wow not a cheap part for a piece of plastic... So out with the glue and associated stuff to attempt a truly Blue Peter fix. Plastic strips from the recycling bin and cotton bud shafts (clean honest ). I sandwiched the broken components between the plastic and added the solid (but flexible) cotton bud shafts on the back of the binnacle for extra strength. Hopefully... Worth a try... Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge Click image to enlarge As for the other broken piece of dash... Suspect a plate and rivets are in order, but I do not have anything like that here with me. It'll have to wait for now. |

You can get a metal replacement for that so no more breaks from raptor engineering Ray

Not impressed with this, not impressed at all...
Click image to enlarge The Wipac LED reverse light has lost a couple of LEDs. They are only a couple of years old. Am a little concerned about whether they will get through the MOT next month as I read that new rules are coming in to effect that multi-led units will be scrutinised for dead LEDs... Not really on considering the price and definitely out of warranty. Oh well. |

Ah I am reminded of another failure in the last month. A good number of years ago I fitted a relayed headlamp loom akin to the Boomslang version. I cannot remember now where I got it from. I do remember thinking at the time of fitting that the wiring looked really quite flimsy...
...well it melted... Click image to enlarge These relays have shorted and melted the plug, causing the headlights to cease working. I shall be removing the wiring shortly when I buy and fit a set of LED headlights. Have to say the loom does make an amazing difference, has to be 30% extra light from the Wipac and H4 headlamps. Without it and I feel like I have been thrust back in to the dark ages. Amazing difference. The other reasons for thinking about changing the headlamps is that the lenses of the crystal Wipacs have badly crazed and are no longer 100% clear. Plus the retaining rings are now quite rusty too. I think a revamp is to happen shortly. Trucklites - Noldens - Speakers - Other... So many to choose from and such a variety of price (and I assume quality) |

Ahhh you mean the rear dash https://www.raptor-engineering.co.uk/produ...cle-mount/ Good call, will save this for later contemplation Got me hopes up though, for a gorgeous billet aluminium binnacle... Shame. |

Sorry I thought it was the rear bit broken for some reason but they do a metal clock binnacle too for £79 ish but it says it's for pre td5
https://www.raptor-engineering.co.uk/product/defender-binnacle/ Edit: they do a td5 version but you have to send them a message when ordering that you want one for a td5 and the heater control bit doesn't light up. No NO. Both are broken; The main gauge binnacle (bit being fixed this evening) and the rear dash (the photo with the big crack in it)
I will try and repair I think before being forced to replace... Not cheap, just a life long Land Rover owner |

I know this is a bit of useless information but the cotton bud stems you got there which are blue, the new ones now are white and are for doing stuff like this, so look after your blue ones Clayton.
