Hi there,
My wife is right now with the Defender in an isolated gravel road going to the farm and she have the following problem. When she try to shift to 4th gear the Defender (Puma 2.4 MY2007) suddendly loss the power and the revs going down to 800 RPM. Temperature according the ODBII reader are in the 88-90C level. She already check all the fuses and the battery cables and all looks OK. Now she is going to purge the water from the fuel filter but im run out ideas about what can be. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

EGR does indeed tend to affect higher gears more, it seems almost as if there is a parasitic load when accelerating in higher gears. No Guts, No Glory.

Well,
Thanks for the fast answer. EGR is void thorugh a BAS Remap and no DTC's codes appear in the log. The problems happens when she moves from 3rd to 4th gear. In any case, appears to be water in the diesel. After three purges (lot of water in it) the problem almost dissapear and she was able to reach the farm. She will proceed to purge again there (she load diesel in an isolated station in the road and may be its the culprit ). Probably the 4th gear requires more power (diesel) and with the amount of water the engine doesnt recive enough diesel to work. Cheers!
