Wheel liner - anyone used the lokari.de liners?
I am looking for a wheel liner for the rear of my 90. (Square tub).
Some good DIY builds out there but I have come across this:

German company with liners for Defenders. As it's an off the shelf solution I'd be quite interested. But I can't find enough info on their website. Can't figure out which version of their product I'd need. Can't see how it's mounted on a Defender either.

Has anyone come across these before? How's the quality, mounting etc?

Hi dantastic, I just had the same problem. My 90 from 2015 was 5 times at the dealers to fix a leak in the back. They found out that the water must come from the left side, above the wheel. But they had no chance to find it. So I talked to lokari to get their liners. Today my dealer tried to install them but no chance. They found out that it will only fit for the 130, even if lokari says they fit for all models. After talking to lokari together with the dealer we decided to modify the liners to fit the 90, send them back to lokari and they use them as a template to make new liners specially for the 90.
When that is done, I will get a new set and my very good and friendly dealer will install them. Hope that will cure my leaking car.

No, not really.

If you go down the well proven Dinitrol route they state you cannot use the stone chip over their under-body wax for example. Two different products for two different applications. It's one or the other.

However, a liberal and decent application of one of them (most likely underbody wax) cold seal some seam line leaks. 2016 D4 HSE

@dotom,

That's great to hear - that someone has tried them before!
Would you happen to know why they didn't fit? Could it be because you have stepped arches in the back?
I have a commercial 90 so I don't have the stepped arches so I may not have the same fitting problem.

Other than the fit which is obviously being rectified, what did you think of them? Good quality?

I wouldn't mind if you would let me know when you have yours back again. some photos would be super! Very Happy


Stone chip and waxoyl solves one problem, I'm trying to solve the problem of mud -freaking- everywhere. On the 90 the rear crossmember, the fuel filler neck, outriggers, the panel on the front of the wheel all collect large amounts of mud. That's the issue I'm trying to help.

They were just too wide and too long. The cuts in the aluminium were on the wrong places. The owner of the german shop who developed the ones for the Defender was talking with the mechanic at the dealers and they tried to find a solution, but no way.
Lokari by the way is a company from Finland. They do the liners in aluminium and plastic, the plastic ones for normal cars and the alu ones for oldtimers and the Defender of course. As the salesman told me, they tried to work together with JLR to get technical sheets from the Defender to produce plastic liners but JLR didn't want to cooperate....
The quality seems to be very good, but there was no way to fit them. My dealer will make photos and a detailed instruction how to install them, once they get the right ones. If !!! they will get them....
If not, they have to find another way to find and fix the leak.
I will post here how it goes on

I bought a set for my 110, but they are still in the box in the container.

Instructions suggested they might need to be manipulated to fit, but I haven't got around to it yet.

When I get my 110 back it will have had an auxiliary tank fitted in one wheel arch so not sure if they will fit anyway and concerned that they might limit articulation. Tired of all of the mud and goop that gets thrown into the rear cross member and was hoping these would save it.

Another option would be the Gwyn Lewis ones, it's not a full liner but does stop all the mud being blasted in to the rear crossmember.

I've just fitted a set to my 110 and whilst I did do things slightly differently to the instructions I think they're good.

I do have the gwyn lewis front mudflap relocator kit on order together with a front mud shield. I really like Gwyn's kit in general.

I had a look at Gwyn's rear mud shields as well but I don't think they are what I'm looking for. Mainly because they still leave most tricky bits well exposed - such as the fuel filler neck. I think as well the way the crossmember plate is done it will just make it more difficult to wash out - sure it will save most mud going in there but not all...

Ah, I haven't really looked at how they go on a 90. On a 110 they move the mud flap about 4" closer to the wheel and there's a bit of plastic that goes all the way from the top of the mud flap up inside the wheel arch box to keep the mud confined to around the wheel. It completely stops anything getting around the fuel filler hose and to the rear crossmember and makes the whole thing much more cleanable.

Hi Dan, my dealer made a template of the old, non fitting parts and lokari now will check it at a Defender 90 in Munich, where they have their company. Unfortunately they are closed during July, so I guess in August I will get my hopefully fitting new wheel liners.....
