Defender 90, Rear Drawer System
I wanted to fit a drawer system to the back of the 90. I look around at what was avalable and although the ones avalable were very good quality the prices were staggering.
So i set about making one myself, eventually the load space will be covered with a treadplate arrangement that will lift on electric rams, so all i really need is some where to put jack, jump leads, toe ropes etc so that the rest of the space is left for her indoors to fill with shopping, clothes and shoes.

I also incorperated a 350amp jump lead connector and a 12volt outlet for good measure.

I started by fabricating a 18mm wpb base to make it sturdy, i am not a carpenter but i can just about screw a few straight bits of wood together ! i made the drawer from 13mm wpb and fitted a ally frame into the front to rivit on the treadplate door, then two more bits of treadplate either side of the door to match it up.
The 24" door slides came from b&q, i painted all the wood both sides with primer first then black. the top of everything is 18mm wpb, this will be the new floor level in the rear loadspace, i sealed all around the edges of the ply with black silicone, i will probably cover the top with some black carpet.

I used stainless steel screws and self tappers throuout.

Nice one Chris Thumbs Up I do have one question though. Was the yellow square of any use bearing in mind that you were working on a land rover.

Square
Andrew, Actually no ! I made the base first "square" then when it came to fitting i had to adust it about 10mm.

fitting that new rear bumper was a laugh as well "it just lines up with the existing chassis holes" !!!!!!!

You have to love LR

Thanks
Thanks guys, it's a work in progress, sadly i only get to work on it at the weekends. She brings it to work during the day.

Bomber82, got the handel from a local supplier, there is a great place in the UK for that sort of stuff http://www.whb.org.uk/acatalog/Locks___Handles.html I found them after i had already paid twice the price for mine, you live and learn.
