Taken these direct from the Devon 4x4 website, So the rear is lifted by 2,1/4 inches and the front by roughly 1,1/2 inches. This lift will also depend on how much extra weight you have bolted on to the landy, for example a winch, roof rack, drawer unit, twin batteries, wheel carrier, Larger tyres and wheels etc. etc. will make the suspension lift nearer to a standard spring set-up on an unmodified defender not carrying anything extra. Thumbs Up

OME 751

Old Man Emu Coil springs for Land Rover.
390mm free height
230 lbf/in

Defender 90 & 110 diesel front upto 50kg 30mm lift
Defender 130 diesel front upto 50kg 20mm lift

OME 755

Old Man Emu Coil spring for Land Rover 110 & 130 rear.
435mm free height
300 lbf/in
Suits :-
Defender 110 rear constant 300kg 55mm lift

Whatever you do to the front do the same at the rear. Especially if you are going to carry a fair bit of kit.

If you leave the rear standard it will sit on its ass when loaded.

Out of interest, those of you with HD springs which are giving lift, do you have any suspension issues? ie are the bushes on both the front and rear radius arms true/square? particularly the rears where the front end joins the chassis?

HD is definitely extra on an XS, mine doesnt have it. I fitted my own, apart from the secondary springs in the rear which were done by the infamous Ali Nassir.

TC, if you get down on one knee and look at your rear radius arm, is it sitting true in the bush and housing? I'd be amazed if it is with +3"?

Sorry Mike, dipped into the thread without reading through and got the wrong end of the stick. My springs give a 1.5 inch lift, the rest is in the wheels and tyres, overall height is 3inch - alignment is therefore obviously pefect.....will read further in future Embarassed Thumbs Up

If you have questions on springs/shocks my recommendation would be to talk to Chris Hill at Devon4x4 - he'll ask you what you want to do with your truck.

So for my set up as I will be going for a light winch - ie with Plasma not steel; simple clubman winch bumper - we ended up with a softer spring than if you want a lot of bull bars, bash plates and big-boy winch.

For the rears I went with medium sprung for day to day use with medium weight and I bought a spare set of stiffer rear springs for when the truck is fully loaded up and going away somewhere - e.g. roof tent, rack, diesel, water, wheels, paraphenalia etc etc

All above OME +2". Shocks +2" Koni Raid - indestructable (supposedly).

Give Chris a ring - he's passionate about getting it right

But the HD spring for the back are double coil aren't they ? As 130 ? Question

The biggest weight I carry in tha back of my 110DC is my 60kg dog ! Mr. Green

Do I really need to fit the HD in the back ? I'll be fitting the HD in the front, next week ... Regards
