100 agree. Not only that, it ensures you would also gain word of mouth and repeat business as well! YOLO... You Only Live Once... |

I just hope the garage see sense and make the offer of paying half the respray cost for me to have it done in Cornwall if not this thread will become very interesting I'm sure. Thank you again for your comments and advice, nice Landry you have there. 2015 HT XS 90

I have finally caught up on this thread and as everyone has made there points, my point is much the same as it would be best if the garage who done the work should pay the money towards the respray as i would not take it there for the second time
As you said there reputation does not mean much to them as its only £300 Cant understand them not excepting your offer Time will tell, and i hope you enjoy a nice sprayed black roof, trouble free 1996 Golf Blue 300Tdi 110 Pick up. Keeper. Clayton. |

I have exchanged a series of emails with Chris at CSK with regard to my roof and his approach was claim off your Landrover warranty, then saying it's not his responsibility even though it was done less than 8 months ago (says his warranty is only 3 months) then said it may have been caused by tree sap or cleaning products. So name and shame it is Chris, not the first time the quality of your work has been brought into question on this forum is it?
Yes you did eventually offer to do a respray if I brought it back involving more cost to me in fuel and train fares than having resprayed in Cornwall by a quality paint shop. I acknowledge some forum members will say this should not be brought into a public forum, however if a main dealer offered this service it would be plastered all over the site. I have given Chris ample opportunity to make a payment of half the cost of the respray £250.00 but he has chosen to ignore my last couple of emails. Quite sad really Chris that you value your business reputation at less than £250.00. 2015 HT XS 90 2008 SVX 90 2000 XS TD5 90 |

I'd support the OP. I have had bad dealings with Chris. Not to be trusted. V8 90...WIP

Is there a local college that teaches car bodywork & paint near to you?
Many years ago when I was an apprentice and attended Bromsgrove college, we repaired a few body shop cock ups on private vehicles in the workshop as demonstration / practice. A couple of the paint shop focussed apprentices were very good and could show the lecturers up! |

Didn't he offer to respray for you?
Was it CSK that sprayed it and not someone else or previous owner? I know Chris does buy and sell too. So it might not be his own work. With all the yay and neigh here, I've heard many positive things about CSK here. Much more positive than negative in fact. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

He did offer a respray yes, after telling me to claim from my Landrover warranty but Landrover took one look at the work and said they had never seen such poor workmanship, the body shop manager even spoke to Chris with regard to the poor workmanship.
The work was carried out by the paint shop CSK currently use and Chris acknowledges this and said he inspected the work at the time and was happy with it. Why would I want to use the same paint shop having seen the standard of their earlier effort when it would involve more cost to me than a local respray? So I asked Chris to pay half the cost of getting it resprayed locally. Also worth noting, was Chris quoted the original owner for a brand new roof from Landrover and I have a copy of the quotation that states this, but I have an email from Chris saying it's an NTO ( new take off) roof from a Landrover breakers yard which has been filled above the backdoor, when I asked Chris about this he replied by email that the previous owner was made aware it wasn't a new roof being fitted, I have since contacted the previous owner who emailed me saying "As far as I knew is was a new roof and paint job, thats what I paid for" Perhaps now you see why I wouldn't want the roof spraying by the same paint shop again and they only offer a 3 month warranty on their work. I have no doubt other aspects of CSKs work they do has been carried out well and people are happy with that work however the very poor standard of this paintwork is totally unacceptable. 2015 HT XS 90 2008 SVX 90 2000 XS TD5 90 |

How do you know the previous owner is telling the truth though?
He is obviously going to want to distance himself from it immediately in case of you coming to him direct yourself regarding it. After all, as far a he's concerned the money has gone his direction and he washes his hand of it. Out of interest unles I've missed a post here, how come it needed a new roof? Was it damaged or a cosmetic paint chrange? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

The previous owner said he is a friend of Chris and spoke very highly of Chris when I met him not really the actions of someone who doesn't tell the truth.
The previous owner as I have stated in previous posts has been extremely helpful in assisting me to get this sorted out sending me email corespondence to substantiate and assist me in getting this resolved. It required a new roof due to an "incident" in a car wash and the car wash company paid for all the work in full as per the CSK quote given to them by the previous owner. 2015 HT XS 90 2008 SVX 90 2000 XS TD5 90 |
