Assuming Clinton was going to continue the anti-UK line that Obama was following, maybe it's actually a positive outcome for the UK. As others have said, Reagan was also assumed to be a similarly loose cannon and he's generally considered to have been a good president.
Time will tell, I guess. I'd have been more comfortable with Clinton but I don't think either candidate was a good option and I think that's been reflected in the vote. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/ |

The dollar had an initial dip this morning but already recovered. Stock market impact seems very moderate too, just slightly weaker now. That's all good, give the guy a chance I would say.
Eric You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation. http://youtu.be/yVRlSsJwD0o https://youtu.be/vmPr3oTHndg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GtzTT9Pdl0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABqKPz28e6A https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rLZ49Jce_n0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XvAsz_ilQYU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8tMHiX9lSw https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dxwjPuHIV7I https://vimeo.com/201482507 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSixqL0iyHw |

Looks like the educated were too educated to go out and vote then. As an American living in the UK I do not like Trump however Clinton is anti UK and thought that the Presidency was her right along with most of the press in the US and the BBC over here. Times they are a changing but as Obama said last night "in the morning the sun will still come up....." Cheers Don. |

Democrats like Obama said they would put Britain at the back of the queue. Clinton more or less indicated the same. Trump has gone on record saying he loves the UK and is ready to do trade deals. Who is the best American candidate for the UK bit of a no brainer?
Personally now that Trump is the president elect I think it will make for interesting times. You also have to consider that if Hillary Clinton would have won would she have just become a puppet president whose strings were controlled by her ex-president husband Bill. Do we always have to get the same old "those who voted for Trump are morons" or "those who voted for Brexit are idiots" type statements? I despise Corbyn, Milne, Abbott, Lansmann etc, but I don't regard the people who support them as stupid. Neither would I have, in the event of a Remain vote taken to the streets vandalising property or defacing war memorials.
I accept democracy, who gets the most votes wins, simples. Trump has won, voted for by millions and millions of ordinary American people of all creeds and colours, hopefully he'll water down some of the rhetoric and make concessions where it matters, the Democrats are not going to give him a free rein. I'm certain Theresa will be among the 1st to congratulate him and hope that, post-Brexit, she can re-affirm the "special relationship" we have had with the US for years. I suspect our alliance with the US will come to mean a lot more to us, especially after the vindictive elements within the EU have finished giving us a hard time. |
