Hello all,
I'm not a fan of the current colour of Mrs Grenadier's TT alloys and am thinking of getting them resprayed to Satin Black. Has anyone done this? Hers are OE from Audi's current catalogue, but I'm wondering if a re-spray will ever be as good as the original factory wheel? Happy to do the work, pay the bucks and choose the best local company, but not if there is a risk it will ruin the wheels and they'll never be as good as OE. Any thoughts/advice? Ta Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Ultimately, home spraying won't be as good as a factory finish, or one from a professional re-finisher who has the facilities to chemically clean the existing and bake on the new paint. However, that doesn't mean that a good finish can't be achieved. Preparation is always the key, but it comes down to how good you are at it.
I guess if you're keen then have a go at one and if it doesn't work to your satisfaction then get it re-done professionally. Sorry, might have confused things. Only interested in a professional job, certainly not skilled enough for DIY. But will a pro respray be as good as new? Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

Ah, ok. In that case, the answer is yes as long as you find somebody reputable. Darren

Nope, this would be a full, tyres off, back to bare metal respray. And I'd certainly choose the best local company possible. Being near Geneva there are two or three companies that seem to deal just in Ferraris, Bentleys etc, so they'd be the port of call. In essence a replacement wheel is 1500€ whereas I'm assuming a respray (as I very much like the look of the wheel, just not the colour - silver with light grey accents) will be considerably less? These are the wheels but on their dark (Daytona) grey car: Monsieur Le Grenadier I've not been everywhere, but it's on my list..... 2011 Puma 110DC - Corris Grey |

My father has just had some alloys resprayed locally, full tyre off, strip back job and they look fantastic. The company even loaned some wheels to keep the car on the road while it was being done (3-4 days). And not silly money either I believe about £360 for 5. James

Even if you did do them yourself bear in mind the prep is costly in time and effort.
Ocassionally it's just not worth going DIY, but for small items you can get a really good finish. Depends what you feel like really. KEEP CALM AND Drill ON 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |
