Steering stops,
So, did they stop putting the steering stop tabs onto the Axles ? just jacked mine up as it rubs slightly on full lock
and noticed theyre not there and the stop bolt looks to just hit the axle/hub/flange thingy, where my TD5 has a small plate for the bolt to stike.

Hmm, it's odd too, as the stop bolts are wound almost all the way out, so much so that there's no threads clearing the lock nut.

If it's by design it's a pretty crap one. I was under the impression that any correctly made up nut/bolt really should be a thread or two through a nut generally.

Need to find a my12 drawing I guess. 3 Landrovers

There should be a plate held on by two of the bolts that hold the swivel housing on.

Just hooking on to this thread, can anyone post a photo of what the steering stop should look like on a MY2012?

Thank you James

I've never seen that on a Defender. Series IIIs had that arrangement, a small metal plate for the bolt head to hit.

All my Defenders have just had the lock stop bolt set up to bear directly onto the axle/swivel joint flange. Seems to work fine, apart from the RH one on the 90 which sheared off 8 years ago... must get round to fixing that.

Of course it could be that all my vehicles have been missing something, but I doubt it.

I've heard of it on defenders, but my MY1999 just bumps into the axle tube flange as well.
