Hmm, it's odd too, as the stop bolts are wound almost all the way out, so much so that there's no threads clearing the lock nut.
If it's by design it's a pretty crap one. I was under the impression that any correctly made up nut/bolt really should be a thread or two through a nut generally. Need to find a my12 drawing I guess. 3 Landrovers |

There should be a plate held on by two of the bolts that hold the swivel housing on.

I've never seen that on a Defender. Series IIIs had that arrangement, a small metal plate for the bolt head to hit. All my Defenders have just had the lock stop bolt set up to bear directly onto the axle/swivel joint flange. Seems to work fine, apart from the RH one on the 90 which sheared off 8 years ago... must get round to fixing that. Of course it could be that all my vehicles have been missing something, but I doubt it. |

I've heard of it on defenders, but my MY1999 just bumps into the axle tube flange as well.
