New AP Clutch - Loose Springs - Video
Hello all,

Just received a new AP Clutch (LR048731, dated 09.12.15) and 2 of the springs are very loose as shown video link below. 3rd spring freely spins but doesn't move side-to-side much. 4th spring is tight.

How much spring movement is typical in the current revision clutch plate? My gut tells me to send it back. I went with the understanding that AP is same as Genuine.

Cheers,
Jason

Hi all

As I myself will probably soon also need a new clutch, I am very interested to read some comments here... Anyone?

Regards
Ter

Maybe it is genuine and maybe that's why they generally rattle. No doubt someone here will enlighten.

Hi
I did mine a couple of years ago.
Symptoms were the clutch rattled when the truck was warm and in neutral.
When the clutch was dipped the noise stopped.
When I stripped it out the old clutch springs were very loose and had warn the side of the housing.

The springs were not as tight as I expected in the new clutch. Like yours, two were tighter than the other two.
When I picked up the old clutch and shook it, it rattled but when I picked up the new clutch and shook it it did not.
Obviously it's all subjective and it's a bit hard to tell from the video but I would say the play you have there seems excessive.
As its a pain in the arse to fit I would say get it swoped before you go to all the effort of banging it back together.

I would put a new slave cylinder in while your in there
Hope that helps a bit

Thanks Shepherd, I appreciate your insight. Mine is definitely a tambourine when I shake it (similar to the old one I took out), can't see how 2 of the springs would stay in place for very long. Frustrating to just swap it out and hope the next one's better. Maybe I can ask the vendor to give it a shake for me. Very Happy
