Secure bonnet hinges - bonnet closing issue?
Hello all,

I just finished fitting my optimil secure bonnet hinges... I love the look but I came across a problem that made me wonder if anyone else had come across...

My bonnet wouldn't close and I was forced to adjust as much as I could, the bonnet hinge screws and then finally adjust the wire holding the spring catch. The one on the end of the wire that is on the leaver in the cab to pop the bonnet.

It's made me a little concerned that the bonnet may fly up...

Anyone else come across this and how did they overcome it?

Many thanks all

Michael

Hi

I am not sure which ones are the optimil hinges - a photo would help. But usually there is some adjustment to be had by loosening the hinge bolts and aligning the bonnet before tightening them. Then it is ok to adjust the striker plate a bit. You can also adjust the slam panel and front wings!! But check that the tip of the striker pin is aligned with the centre of the striker panel. Some times you may have to adjust the cable to make sure it holds the locking plate to the left enough so the tip of the striker can get past it. I assume you still have the safety catch in place.

Hope this helps

Cheers
