Limp mode?
Hi all, first post,so please be gentle Very Happy
Had my 2.2 (2012) for about 3 months and just about getting used to it. Problem I have tonight is that driving home the engine warning light came on and it won't go with any power, turbo's not coming in and engine is very sluggish. Is this probably the engine going into limp mode?
Question is, are there any obvious things to check out before ringing the garage?
Thanks,
Stu.

Not sure which of these apply to a 2.2 as new as yours but:

Engine wiring loom around red lifting eye at rear of engine
Turbo loom over air con pump

And a fault code reader / reset device is money very well spent, if you read the codes and post on here several of the members will happily point you in the right direction

Good luck

Can you verify the conditions before the limp mode activated.

I have encountered twice limp mode, the result of over reving. A stop and restart have reset the limp mode, and after approx 4-5 start and stops the engine light has extinguished. Cheers Simon

I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you

Thanks for the replies. I was driving home from work and got stuck behind a car doing 30 mph. I gave it some when I got to the dual carriageway. After stopping and turning right at a roundabout the engine went into what I assume to be limp mode (scary). I got home and put the post up. After some searching around the forum, I went out for a spin and all seemed normal, but with the engine management light still on.
I'll go out tomorrow again and see if all is ok again after a few start-stops.
Thanks again for the help.
Much appreciated.
Stu.

had the same problem and found that the hose to turbo had come loose (slightly) and was causing the problem.
